Proudly Serving the Villages of Kildeer and Deer Park

Establishment of speed limits and other regulations

The Village of Kildeer is limited in its power to regulate traffic on streets within the Village. State maintained roads such as Rand Road, Illinois Highway 22, and Lake Cook Road are under the jurisdiction of the Illinois Department of Transportation. Quentin Road, Long Grove Road in Deer Park, Ela Road, and Cuba Road in Deer Park are the responsibility of the Lake County Division of Transportation.

On those streets maintained by the Village of Kildeer, traffic may be regulated through the use of stop signs, speed limits, and other traffic control devices. However, the Village of Kildeer is limited in its power to regulate this traffic by Illinois statute. For example, stop signs cannot be erected at intersections that do not support a specific count of vehicles per hour. They must be erected on the minor street in a major street/minor street intersection and stop signs cannot be used to regulate the speed of traffic.
