With the increasing amount of growth in Lake County, traffic continues to be a major factor in the quality of life of Kildeer residents. The Kildeer Police Department has established a traffic education and enforcement unit to help reduce the effects of traffic problems on public safety.

State of the art equipment is used to track the prevailing speed and traffic volume on the arterial and feeder roads within the Village, with added emphasis on feeder streets in residential areas. Results of these studies are published on this web site for your benefit.

Excerpts from traffic engineering manuals including the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices are also provided here. You can see what the requirements are for establishing speed limits and how speed limits are established.

The Kildeer Police Department has purchased a mobile speed education trailer that provides a reminder to the motoring public of their speed as they drive on village streets. This trailer is placed in various strategic locations within Kildeer and Deer Park and provides a reminder to drivers of their speed. Residents of Kildeer and Deer Park may request to be placed on the list for the speed trailer by completing the on-line request form available here.
